About Us
Technically, me, it's just about me ;)
I'm Laura, the woman behind this one-woman-show! I am a mom, wife, and full time employee in the insurance industry during the day, and maker of all of the things by night (and every second of free time)!
I have always been a busy-body and needed something to give me a creative outlet from my normal day to day happenings. Love in Pennsylvania was born out of a love for creating things for people. I started out making crocheted goods - blankets, hats, cup koozies, etc. After a couple years of crocheting, I found that my area had a pretty oversaturated market for crocheted stuff and what I was making wasn't anything spectacular. I switched paths and moved into wood signs. Wood signs were fun and fulfilling...until they weren't. The end came as a result of the pandemic and the struggle to get quality wood for my signs. This caused a lot of issues with how the signs were coming out and soon the stress was not worth the reward.
In the summer of 2021 I was messing around reverse tie dyeing (aka bleaching) some sweatshirts. I saw it online and thought it would be something fun to try. As someone who is a bit of a control freak, I was somehow drawn to not knowing how the sweatshirt would turn out once the bleach was put on it. I loved that each one was different and unique. I was ready to move on from sign making, so I took a batch of sweatshirts to a craft market and they sold like hotcakes, actually much better than the signs did. I knew that was the push I needed to move into something new. I've had a blast doing clothing and seeing how everyone responds to it. The world is in such need of positivity and kindness and I figure, what better way to put it out there than to slap it on a shirt for people to see?!
I am always open to new ideas and would love to hear what you have in mind! I hope you love what you see in the shop and consider telling a friend. Thanks for coming along for the ride :)
